Spinal Manipulation

If you feel like your back needs to be cracked, or you are experiencing pain that won’t go away with ice or heat, you may want to discuss spinal adjustments and manipulation with Dr. Loren Morgan. Spinal manipulation is a safe and effective method of treatment that is designed to alleviate pressure on joints, reduce inflammation, and improve nerve function. Spinal adjustments not only relieve pain associated with the back, neck, and shoulders but by receiving them periodically, you can boost your immune system and restore mobility. Depending on the condition of the patient, Dr. Loren Morgan will design a treatment plan that will meet his or her specific needs. Spinal manipulation is performed on a padded, adjustable table so that Dr. Morgan can adjust the body as needed. Once the patient is comfortable, Dr. Morgan will use his hands to apply a controlled, sudden force to a specific joint. Electrical Muscle Stimulation

At Morgan Chiropractic we have a pain solution for every patient.  Electrical muscle stimulation is recommended for patients with muscle or soft tissue injuries because it reduces pain and swelling and can reduce overall recovery time.  When disease or injury occurs, a body’s natural electric current is disrupted.  Electric muscle stimulation mimics the electrical current that occurs naturally in a healthy body.  During a treatment, electrodes are placed directly on the skin in the affected area and the machine is turned on.  The gentle current causes the muscles to contract and relax, which relieves pain and can release locked up muscles.  These contractions also trigger the release of endorphins, the body’s most powerful natural pain reliever.  Most patients describe the treatment feeling like a tingling sensation and aren’t uncomfortable during the process. The treatments are short in length and can be scheduled over a series of weeks. To learn more about electrical muscle stimulat...

Chiropractic Massage Therapy

Massage is often advertised by spas as pure pampering, but the long-practiced therapy has many health benefits and has helped patients of Morgan Chiropractic heal. Combining chiropractic treatment with massage therapy helps improve a patient’s overall musculoskeletal health and functionality. Another benefit of massage therapy is it releases toxins built up in the muscles, which can then exit the body. This purge of toxins is important for chiropractic patients and anyone with injuries because it helps the body heal itself. Chiropractic massages are still performed in a calm, soothing environment. Relaxation cannot heal injuries on its own but is still important to overall health, especially for patients with chronic pain or stress. Your massage therapist can target problem areas, or focus on relaxing certain muscles in order to help your chiropractor perform an adjustment. Regular massage also increases circulation and flexibility, which makes this therapy highly recommended for patie...

Goals of Therapeutic Exercise

At Morgan Chiropractic, Dr. Loren Morgan utilizes therapeutic exercise to correct impairment, improve musculoskeletal function, and/or maintain a healthy well-being. Therapeutic exercises differ from typical exercises one may perform in a gym. Instead, they are a variety of exercises that are mapped out by Dr. Morgan to improve and restore physical function. The types of exercises suggested will depend on the condition of the patient. Therapeutic exercises are aimed at achieving and maintaining physical fitness and fall into three major categories – endurance training, resistance training, and flexibility training. Therapeutic exercises have the ability to release contracted muscles, improve circulation, improve coordination, and improve balance. For certain conditions, Dr. Morgan will develop a custom exercise program to benefit your individual needs. If you have questions or concerns regarding chiropractic treatment, please give us a call. Hot vs. Cold Therapy

Hot and cold therapy can be used when recovering from an injury and Dr. Loren Morgan is here to tell you when to use which. If you experience muscle aches, cramps, you may benefit more from heat. On the other hand, if you suffer a sprain, a muscle strain, or a headache, you may benefit more from cold therapy. Allow us to explain why. Because cold therapy constricts blood vessels and reduces blood flow when applied, it’s best used for acute injuries such as a sprained ankle, muscle tear, bruising, or inflammation as soon as possible. The reduced blood flow limits the amount of fluid around the injury which will reduce swelling over time. If you frequently experience sore, stiff muscles, heat is best used to improve mobility and increase joint elasticity. Heat should be used prior to exercise while cold therapy should be used after an activity. If you’ve recently been injured and are unsure of how to go about treatment, we can help. If you have questions or concerns regarding chiropracti...

Car Accidents

Car accidents that aren’t major collisions are too often overlooked by those involved.  More worried about an insurance claim or being late for work, we don’t always stop to assess what damage may have been done to our bodies. Because of the sudden and unnatural movement of a body during a car accident, anyone involved should visit a chiropractor for evaluation. The staff of Morgan Chiropractic knows that some passengers feel the effects of whiplash injuries immediately following an accident, while others may walk away not feeling injured and experience pain later. This is why a chiropractor should always be consulted. The most common site of pain and stiffness for passengers involved in an accident are the neck and back.  A chiropractor can evaluate these injuries, as well as treat damage to both hard and soft tissue. Depending on a patient’s evaluation the chiropractor may perform an adjustment or assign exercises to help heal a particular injury. If you have been involved in a car a...

Chiropractic Treatment for Migraines

Morgan Chiropractic recommends chiropractic adjustments for migraine sufferers who have yet to find relief. Chiropractic treatment will not cure migraines, but it is one of the few ways to be proactive against migraines and help prevent them.  In someone prone to migraine episodes, a trigger can often be a misalignment, or subluxation of the spine.  Migraines can begin with tension in the neck, but even patients without migraines find keeping their neck free of kinks helps improve frequent headaches. Dysfunctional vertebrae in the neck can cause increased muscle tension and interrupt the nerves that control blood flow to the brain. Chiropractic adjustments relieve the pressure and tension that results in headaches, and keep the spine aligned to help it function at its best. The exact cause of migraines is unknown, but most theories acknowledge an interruption in either nerve activity, blood flow to the brain, or both.  Regular chiropractic adjustments also help facilitate healthy blood...
